Last Day of Summer Camp

Today is our last Day of summer camp!  It has been a wonderful summer getting to know all of you and your little ones! We are very excited for our carnival themed party today and we hope to see you there at 11:30 AM to  join in the fun and games!

Carnival Theme Party Reminder

It's a Jungle Out There!

During our Jungle Theme week we had so much fun acting like jungle animals and reading stories like, "Rumble in the Jungle"! We painted animal masks, made some funky monkeys, and talk about where animals live.

For our last week of camp we are having a Carnival theme. During this week we will be playing all sorts of silly games and dances. We will be also getting ready for our Carnival Themed Party on the last day of camp. Our last day of camp is August 8th. We are inviting parents to come in if you can and walk your child around to the different games and activities we will have set up outside.  You are welcome to come around 11:30 to join in the fun!

Movin' and Groovin'

We moved and grooved all week with our friend Pete the Cat and his jazzy tunes.  During this week we made many different musical instruments, sang and danced to all different bean bag songs and even practiced making different beats with various musical instruments. During circle time we did a morning stretch and while outside we participated in multiple obstacle races!

Dinosaur Detectives

During our Dinosaur Detectives week we had so much fun learning about many different dinosaurs.  We learned about the T-Rex, Stegasaurus, Brontosaurus, and the Triceratops.  We learned that there are plant-eating dinosaurs and there  are meat-eating dinosaurs.  During the week we made textured dinosaur collages, we mixed up different ingredients to make dinosaur imprints, and we made dinosaur necklaces.  The children also really loved using different tools to find dinosaurs in the sand.

Ocean Commotion

Our first week of camp was wonderful! We learned all about the ocean and specifically about certain ocean creatures.  We learned about crabs, jellyfish and even what it's like to be a fish. Through the week we made many different crafts like our jellyfish, our beach sun catchers and even our cool beach scenes with crabs! 

This week is all about dinosaurs! We will be doing a dinosaur dig While learning about many of our dinosaurs like the T-Rex, the Stegosaurus and the Triceratops. 

This week they are predicting very hot days ! We will be adjusting our schedules so that the children can go outside right after everyone arrives to help with the heat. Please remember to send water and to put on sunblock before camp.

First Day of Camp

We had a wonderful first day at Summer Camp getting to know our friends!  Today we made textured collage sea creatures and paper plate fish (hanging on hallway bulletin board) while we talked about the ocean and the creatures that live within it. We read the beautiful story , "Commotion in the Ocean" by Giles Andreae that had wonderful short rhymes about many ocean animals.  While outside, we played fish bean bag toss, drew with chalk, and played ring toss. We finished the morning with lunch and an ocean song before we said goodbye.  Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow for more ocean fun!

Welcome to Summer Camp!

Dear Families,

        Welcome to the Maywood Cooperative Nursery School’s Summer Camp program!  Our program consists of five themed weeks filled with fun!  Our themes this summer are Ocean Commotion, Dinosaur Detectives, Movin’ and Groovin’, It’s a Jungle Out There!, and Under the Big Top.   Please see our Weekly Themes Page on this website to see when we will be doing each of these. 

        On our website you will also find a  Daily Schedule Page and aCamp Procedure Page.  Please read everything thoroughly to be aware of all of our policies.  Our drop off time begins at 8:30 AM and all children must be picked up by 12:30PM.  If at any time during the summer you would like to contact me, I am available before 9 AM or after 12:30PM.  I can also be reached by email at mskristy10@gmail.com  We look forward to seeing you and your children on Tuesday, July 9th!
